Birmingham – May 1, 2007 – Palm Signs, based in Greenfield, North Wales, has installed the UK’s first Océ Arizona 250 GT, which will help the company further improve efficiency and increase productivity by 100%.

The Océ Arizona, which makes its UK debut at Sign UK, will allow Palm Signs to expand into new market sectors, including point-of-sale, as well as enhancing the company’s current products and services, such as signage, panels, posters and exhibition work.

Brian Butler, Managing Director, Palm Signs, said: “We are delighted to be the first company in the UK to install an Océ Arizona 250 GT.  Our early projections show that it will be more than double the speed and be twice as productive as our previous solution.  For example, we anticipate a job that used to take three people a day to deliver could be completed in just over half a day by two people using the Arizona.  This should allow us to pass a cost-saving to our customers and give us a competitive advantage in the market.

“We chose the Océ Arizona 250 GT because of the excellent quality of its output and the fact it can print on such a large range of media.  The machine’s reliability is very good, which is vital in our market sector, and it is incredibly user-friendly.  Importantly, our customers have been very impressed with the samples they have seen.  We are confident the Océ Arizona 250 GT will have a positive impact on our business.”

The Océ Arizona 250 GT is ideal for producing a wide variety of display graphics such as point-of-purchase displays, limited-term signage, banners, event graphics, backlit and reflective rigid displays, transit advertising, and directional signage.   It uses UV curable inks and Océ VariaDot™ imaging technology and the next evolution of piezo inkjet technology that enables a print head to produce dots of variable size, delivering near-photographic image quality.  In addition to superior image quality, Océ VariaDot imaging technology with four colour inks uses significantly less ink compared to six colour printers with fixed-droplet inkjet technology. The resulting lower ink consumption results in ink savings of up to 35 percent over fixed-droplet, six colour printers.  It includes a true flatbed platform to print on a wide variety of rigid substrates up to 1.25m wide x 2.5m long x 48 mm thick, and features an optional roll-to-roll module for printing onto flexible media up to 2.2m wide.

Wilbert Verheyen, Business Unit Director of Wide Format Printing Systems at Océ UK, said: “We are sure that Palm Signs and its customers will quickly see the huge benefits of the Océ Arizona 250 GT.  It will allow the company to deliver exceptional quality, productivity and flexibility across a wide range of projects, and set it apart from its competitors.”
