Birmingham, – April 7, 2006 – Océ has a new strategy for the UK: ‘Print Innovation through Convergence’. At the heart of this new strategy is the ability to enable customers to generate increased profits through advanced technology and various functionality. Flexibility and scalability are key themes supporting this new initiative and Ipex, stand G50-51, is the first public platform for its announcement.

The company will be unveiling a series of new initiatives including specialist sales consultants, end user support and a host of software and hardware solutions.

In addition, Ipex will offer Océ the opportunity to reveal many of its latest innovations in professional printing, including the launch of a new system which the company says demonstrates a ‘quantum leap in digital printing’ for both the transactional, commercial and book printing markets.

To ensure the strategy is driven forward, Océ has made a series of appointments and created a new business unit to ensure that customers will receive the right support from one focused team.

Simon Wheeler said, “We have decided to focus on this area wholeheartedly in response to our customers’ needs.  A key theme that recurs time and again is flexibility.  Increasingly the industry needs to provide a service that is fleet of foot and doesn’t require huge amounts of up front investment.

“Along with upgradeability and increased productivity, these elements form a key part of our design philosophy, which is a key differentiator for Océ in the market and a concept we call Convergence.

“Today you need to be able to do more with less equipment and you need to be assured that the investments that you are making now, will not become obsolete over time.

“We are putting in place a host of technologies and support that respond to those client issues and allow them to increase the ROI on their production devices through increasing the utilisation of their print capacity.”

He concluded: “New technologies being announced as part of Océ’s convergence strategy include: the ability to accept transactional, variable publishing and traditional applications in the same workflow; printing single or multiple spot colour, full colour and mono applications cost effectively on the same hardware; print speed upgrades to mirror increased capacity requirements over time without replacing hardware and the ability to print security products on the same device as used for standard print.”

Further announcements will made at Océ’s Press Conference in Seminar Suite 2, Gallery Area, IPEX on Friday, April 7 at 9.30am
