Photoconductors are not hazardous to the user and contact with the surface is not harmful.
In normal use, operators should not touch the surface as finger marks or scratches will adversely affect copy quality. Most machines use a photoconductor drum or band with either an organic ('OPC') or Zinc Oxide coating. These are not hazardous waste and may be disposed of as normal waste. |
A minority of models use a Selenium alloy photoconductor drum. These are changed only by our service technicians, and our internal procedures ensure that they are returned through our logistics system and recycled or disposed of in accordance with UK legislation. Should you have purchased the copier and be disposing of it yourself, you should remove the photoconductor and arrange for its disposal as 'special waste'. Models using these include the 1540, 2025, 2200, 2210, 3200 to 3310, 7000, 7100, 7300, 7350 and most HV Production Printers. |
