RoHs Compliance                 ream

What is RoHS?

RoHS stands for "The Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronics equipment". This restriction has been embedded into the European Directive 2002/96/EC. This Directive explain that as of July 1st 2006, it is illegal for EU members to introduce new electrical and electronic systems into the market place which contain substances like lead, cadmium, mercury, chromium, polybroombifenyls (PBB) and/or polybroomdifenylethers (PBDE).

What is the scope of the RoHS Directive?

All NEW products (i.e. newly manufactured and factory produced new models) that are put on the market from July 1st 2006 in the EU member states.

All new, used or second hand products imported from countries outside the EU member state from July 1st 2006, have to comply with the requirements of the RoHS Directive.

International Impact

Océ expect that more countries will adopt similar legislation in reasonable time. In general, Océ policy is to develop products for a world marker and make these RoHS-compliant.

Given this policy and the universal Service Working Method, all Océ Operation Countries will receive similar compliant products.
