Unmatched combination of highlight color, MICR, quality and upgradability
Océ, a global leader in digital document management and delivery, achieves a new level of flexibility and speed with the launch of its Océ VarioStream® 8000 continuous feed family. This new family of printers delivers the fastest “Twin-able” simplex technology Océ has ever offered, extending Océ leadership in the continuous feed market. The new series offers an unmatched combination of print width, Océ CustomTone™ color, MICR printing, new controller power, upgradability and output choices, such as duplex Twin and Triplex configurations.
The Océ VarioStream 8000 family comes in a number of variations, providing customers with the capabilities they need now and an upgrade path for future requirements. The new series consists of three base models: the Océ VarioStream 8550 at 500 2-up A4-size simplex images per minute, the Océ´ VarioStream 8650 at 600 simplex ipm, and the Océ VarioStream 8750 at 707 simplex ipm. The printers operate in simplex, twin and triplex configurations. Among the variations are Twin systems with speeds from 1,000 to 1,414 duplex ipm. The Triplex version prints two colors on one side and one on the other at 1,000 ipm.

Achieving 24/7 productivity
As the digital print market matures, high volume printing has become a lucrative opportunity. Now printers have a production system that puts them in a competitive position to capture more of this business. With the expanded capacity, faster turnover, quality efficiencies, output choices, and absolute reliability, printers can pursue and deliver new opportunities.

“For the fourth year in a row, InfoTrends recognized us as the global leader in continuous feed production printing. Now the Océ VarioStream 8000 extends the breadth of Océ continuous feed solutions and gives customers a solid foundation for upgrading as needs change. As a result, with new options and capabilities within easy reach, customers can quickly react to market opportunities,” says Sebastian Landesberger, Chief Executive Officer Océ Printing Systems GmbH.

Convergence-ready through versatile, multi-purpose printing
With the versatile Océ VarioStream 8000 system, Océ again responds to the market’s continuing demand for convergence solutions for TransPromo and other applications. In just minutes, the system can switch from low-cost high-speed printing to high quality on-demand production. With one solution, the Océ VarioStream 8000 family meets the needs of commercial, corporate and graphic arts customers wanting to offer both low-cost, high-speed printing services and high quality on-demand printing. As a result, commercial operations can drive more revenue from one system, while corporate print operations can enhance their value to their enterprise.

Key applications for the Océ VarioStream 8000 are traditional transaction statements, as well as new TransPromo documents. In addition, the new system continues the Océ expansion into the graphic arts market with its versatility and attention to quality. The Océ VarioStream 8000 family features a 19.5” paper width and 19” print width, giving customers more options for output and services, such as printing three-up 6”x9” books with bleed and trim margins.

Print adjusts to speed and quality demands
Users can choose the speed and quality best suited to their application and budget. The Production Quality mode uses the most cost-effective consumables for 240, 300 and 600 dpi output. Customers needing higher quality for POD output can choose the Graphics Quality setting for finer halftones and images. The unique Enhanced Print Quality feature offers outstanding image quality on a wide range of substrates, and the latest EPQ version is standard on all Océ VarioStream 8000 systems. With Super Cell technology, printers can deliver output with up to 256 gray shades, giving halftones a more photo-realistic look and feel. This technology can be automatically applied to existing applications without changes.

Extending Océ Job Appropriate Color strategy
The new printer family extends the Océ Job Appropriate Color? strategy by helping customers make the most effective use of highlight color in more of their applications. Océ CustomTone toner can be used in single, Twin and Triplex configurations. The unique Triplex configuration allows users to print two different colors on one side of a page and a third color on the back for maximum flexibility with highest performance. As a result, customers can always use the right amount of color they need to meet their business objectives. Even specialty colors are possible via exclusive Océ CustomTone printing. With over 400 CustomTone colors already available, users can stand out with cost-effective highlight color at up to 1,000 pages per minute. As a result, they can become a competitive specialist in this exciting sector.

The Océ VarioStream 8000 family is available immediately in the USA and Europe. It is available worldwide beginning in the first quarter 2008.
