Simplifying communications across the globe
“Up until now the Océ office portfolio has been an exotic mix of names,” says Mark Drontmann, Vice President Corporate Printing for Océ Technologies. “Océ equipment lines in the US have had a different name than the same product line in our European and Asian markets. As you can imagine, this has caused some confusion for our customers, particularly when companies are purchasing Océ systems for multinational use.”
“The use of Océ VarioLink across our office line is consistent with naming conventions in other Océ product lines such as Océ VarioPrint for our cutsheet production printing and Océ VarioStream for our continuous feed printers. Moreover, the move towards standardized naming is consistent with the Océ strategic direction in the office market. Most importantly,” Drontmann adds, “it will allow our customers to easily identify which Océ products are intended for the office environment.”
VarioLink has rich meaning in the office environment
Drontmann says that Océ VarioLink is an appropriate name for Océ office products. “It signifies so many of the things our office systems are designed to do,” he says. “Océ VarioLink products serve as a link between a company’s departments and workgroups. Because they are multifunctional, they link paper and digital processes in the office”.
“The versatility of the line also serves as a link across the communications process, from input through to sophisticated output. And the Océ office products link workers to more efficient ways of working due to the systems’ ease-of-use and productivity. In short, Océ VarioLink systems provide a complete link in office communications.”
Easier to understand numbering conventions
Océ has also standardized numbering conventions across the Océ VarioLink line. The first two digits indicate the system’s monochrome speed. For example, an Océ VarioLink 4222 prints at 42 images per minute, while the Océ VarioLink 5022 prints at 50 ipm. Océ will roll out the new naming convention whenever it introduces a new product. Existing products will continue to be sold under their current names and numbers.
Océ VarioLink 3622/4222/5022 first to use new naming
The Océ VarioLink 3622/4222/5022 is the first product to use the new naming conventions. This system family is the newest addition to the Océ office monochrome portfolio. The black & white systems print, copy, scan and fax and provide a variety of media and finishing options to office environments. They are easy to use and have a low environmental impact, making them highly suitable for use in the office environment. Océ will begin shipping the systems to start in Europe in August 2008.
