Your IP-901 controller can automatically retrieve and install critical security patches. If you know that this feature is enabled and set to automatic retrieval and installation, you do not need to take any additional action to protect your system.
If you have not, or are not sure that you have, activated the automatic retrieval and installation feature, please perform following steps:
1. Check if the system can accept patches
The controller needs to be able to install the specially formatted XP-e patches.
If system software version of the controller is V2.0 or higher, the system is capable of receiving patches.
The version can be validated by printing a configuration page of the controller.

2. Check if the System Update utility is installed.
The system can be updated manually, or automatically. If the system update utility is installed, you can choose which method suits you best. If the system update utility is NOT installed, only the manual method is possible.
Check if System Update tool is installed and how it is configured.
3. Manually install the patches.
If, for any reason, you can not use the System Update utility, the patches need to be downloaded and installed manually. Please follow the instructions:
- Download the patches from the EFI security web site using the following link:
- IP-901 controller for Océ CS520
- Transfer the patches to the controller via CD-ROM or via the network.
- Install the patches by double clicking on the downloaded executables.
- Restart the server when all patches have been installed.
- Print the configuration page to check if all patches have been installed.
Note:
- To check which Microsoft patches are already installed on the controller, use the command "systeminfo" from a DOS window, to get an overview. The overview lists the patches identified by their Microsoft Q or KB numbers. On the EFI patch pages the match between Microsoft ID and EFI ID can be made.
