Océ 2600
Total high-performance system concept
For very high volume copying and excellent productivity

Introduction

With the Océ 2600, the high copying speed of 100 copies per minute —simplex or duplex—is just part of the total high performance concept. Even the highest throughput speed is of no use if the quality of your copies is below expectation. Other elements, equally vital, contribute to minimising job turnaround times:

  • Unmatched reliability, for trouble-free operation and sustained high productivity
  • Replenishment of toner and paper during a job, so you can complete even the biggest copy runs without interruption
  • Easy operation, to minimise unproductive programming and job start-up time
  • Secure, automatic handling of even "difficult" originals, eliminating the need for time-consuming manual feeding
  • Outstanding  copy quality

This all adds up to shorter turnaround times and greater productivity.

More information

Speed: much more than just c.p.m. figures
You'll hear a lot about speed and copies per minute (c.p.m.) when you investigate copiers in the very high volume segment. Most manufacturers quote impressive figures: 100, 120, even 135 copies per minute. Selection looks like a simple task. But in practice, there's much more to speed than just an unqualified c.p.m. figure.

The question is, how many c.p.m. does a system achieve in real copying applications? And what happens when you want to make duplex copies?

With other systems, copying speeds drop to a fraction of the single-sided speed figure. From over 100 c.p.m. down to just 30 or even less in some cases. A performance drop that will severely impact upon job turnaround times.

In contrast, the Océ 2600 maintains its full 100 c.p.m. throughput rating, regardless of whether you are making simplex or duplex copies. So, you are free to use double-sided copying, with all its benefits of reducing archiving space, savings in paper and postage costs, with no implications whatsoever for your job turnaround times.

Productivity: focus on paper, originals and programming
With the Océ 2600, it's productivity that counts—not just high copying speeds achieved under ideal, but unrealistic, conditions. To achieve high productivity, we have introduced the POP concept, focusing on the three areas in which almost all copier problems traditionally originate: paper jams, original jams and programming difficulties.

Paper: eliminating jams
Paper handling in the Océ 2600 is designed for smooth, uninterrupted production. In conventional machines using the xerographic principle, paper follows a long path deep into the machine, turning multiple corners on the way. But, in the Océ 2600, the paper path is extremely short and flat, because the image is brought to the paper, and not the other way round. This means that paper jams are virtually impossible. Duplex copying is done in a single-pass operation, in contrast to other systems in which the paper is diverted to an auxiliary tray after the first side is copied, with all the complex paper handling involved. So, double-sided copying is just as trouble-free as single-sided copying.

Originals: eliminating misfeeds
Another significant cause of disturbances is original misfeeds-especially when handling mixed original batches and "difficult" originals. Here again, we have an effective solution to prevent interruptions. A gentle air current automatically separates the sheets before feeding, so each one is handled perfectly. And, here too, the original path is short and flat, instead of making a 360º turn. The result is highly efficient and reliable original feeding, even with large documents of 250 sheets.

Programming: eliminating delays
With the unique Océ 2600 Windows-like user interface, programming difficulties (and all the delays) they can cause, are virtually eliminated. Operation is simple and intuitive, with no lengthy series of button press operations needed. And constant operator guidance on the graphic display shows clearly what has to be done, (when, where, and how to do it), at every stage. Parallel next-job programming keeps the copier copying while new jobs are entered. And a pre-programmed jobs memory allows frequently needed procedures to be started instantly.

POP productivity plus
Of course, the Océ 2600 has many more smart features in order to maintain high productivity. The large paper compartment lets you complete long copying runs without interruption. Random tray switchover allows in-process paper refilling— toner can be replenished and the finisher emptied, - without the need to stop copying. Documents can be stapled on-line in both portrait or landscape modes. All ways in which the Océ 2600 proves its capability to really turn around your turnaround times.
