BERTL’s Best Award (2004)
The BERTL’s Best Award for “Best Wide Format Printer Range” is bestowed on the product line which delivers the most extensive functionality, versatility and performance to print shops and CRDs across a wide range of job types. Cadalyst Labs awarded a 5-star to the scanner of the Océ TSC400 (2004)
The review awarded an A+ to the scanner’s ease-of-use—the only scanner to receive such a high mark in this category. The report cited the scanner’s LCD panel on the right of the machine as excellent, relatively sizable and easy-to-read. It also highlighted that the scanner features make the tool fast and easy to operate, potentially saving significantly on time and maximising the productivity of the operator. Cadalyst Magazine rates the new Océ TCS400 a "Wow"
The Océ TCS400 was credited by Cadalyst as one of 15 hottest new products introduced to the marketplace throughout the last half of 2003. The Océ TCS400 was the only non-software product to receive the Wow! Award. Cadalyst's award selection is based primarily on the "wow" factor: Is the product innovative? Does it solve problems creatively? How distinctive is the product compared with others in its market segment? In its review of the product, Cadalyst highlighted several unique product attributes for the Océ TCS400. "We were particularly impressed by the high-volume colour capabilities and the efficient batch print management functionality provided by the Océ Power Logic® controller." Upon issuing this award, here's what the Industrial Design Society of America (IDSA) had to say about the Océ TCS400 wide format, full-colour copier/scanner/printer, "Unlike other similar printers, the Océ TCS400 uses one side to load paper and the other side for print output. The printer is designed to last 10 years with on-site upgradeability. Excellent brand communication; form resolution is elegant and simple; and controls on top of unit allow easy access. Production costs are lowered by using the frame as a cover."
In an article announcing the awards (July 2003), co-sponsor Business Week writes, "The winners this year used design to push traditional brands into new markets, extend well-known brands into new products, and invent something totally new, cool, and useful." |
