 | Düsseldorf, Germany, May 29 — Océ, the market leader in digital continuous feed printing is proud to announce another future-oriented step in the cooperation with Adobe Inc., one of the major partners of Océ. Océ enjoys a first-class reputation in developing its own SRA controller technology, unique in the market owing to its unparalleled flexibility and scalability – which follows Océ’s well-proven and successful approach of also scaling their printing systems in terms of performance and customer requirements. Consequently, Océ seeks to join up with partners who, in their fields, offer best-in-class technologies to enhance Océ equipment. |

The latest SRA generation, designed specifically for the sophisticated requirements of Océ’s new generation of high-performance printers, will now be equipped with the brand- new Adobe PDF Print Engine 2TM. The first printer in Océ’s portfolio to be equipped with the new Adobe Print Engine 2 is the brand new ColorStream 10000, on display at DRUPA 2008.
In the future, all other members of Océ’s high-end printer family will also feature the new Adobe Print Engine 2. Océ’s production print controller technology is based on a flexible, multi-processor technology, called Scalable Raster Architecture (SRA). The architecture can be scaled from lower-speed departmental printers to ultra-high-speed full-color inkjet printers. One of the key functions of the print controller is the Raster Image Processing (RIP) which converts the incoming data into the raster images that are printed on the page. The new PDF Print Engine 2 significantly improves processing of Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) resources in the print workflow. By combining the power of the SRA controller technology with the new PDF Print Engine 2, customers can now achieve unprecedented performance and quality using PDF in variable data applications.
“Océ continuously seeks ways to enhance its solutions offering by developing technical partnerships with industry-leaders in associated technologies,” said Sebastian Landesberger, Executive Vice President Production Printing. “This is a significant enhancement of the capabilities of Océ’s high performance printers, especially with the expanding graphical arts market in view.”
“The ColorStream 10000 will raise the bar for reliable, high-quality color reproduction at very high print speeds”, said Raman Nagpal, Director of Product Management Print Technologies at Adobe. “Adobe is excited that Océ has selected Adobe PDF Print Engine 2 to further enhance this printer’s controller technology. The development will advance the digital print market, and strengthen the long-standing partnership between Océ and Adobe.”
