Océ and CEM present the world's first online chequebook production

Groundbreaking solution from Océ and CEM optimises digital cheque book and voucher production

Part of the show floor at Océ OpenHouse 2007 in Poing will be a dedicated "security printing zone", where Océ and partner company CEM S.p.A. are teaming up to present the world's first online print and production line for cheque books. The "cheque coupon book maker" line combines the outstanding productivity and reliability of Océ's VarioPrint 5160 high performance digital cutsheet printer with CEM's proven, high end DocuConverter & Cheque Book Factory System. The new line excels with zero-defect output and streamlined workflows.

The security printing zone demonstrates up close to visitors how they can raise quality and security levels when producing cheque books and coupons. Even for print operations with as yet no experience in the area, this new, cost-optimised production line is an impressive demonstration of how new business opportunities can be generated. By automating digital check book production, print service providers can significantly improve their service levels and gain competitive edge by guaranteeing watertight, 100 per cent secure production of cheque books, voucher books and similar products.

Automation from input to finishing

With maximum process automation, the Cheque Coupon Book Maker (CCBM) operates highly sophisticated document management, and integrates the quality and security functions of the printing and processing systems. From input to finished product, the Cheque Coupon Book Maker produces ready-finished cheque books in a totally integrated production line, also converting 2 across 4 down stock into single column folio sets, guillotining folio sets into cheque books with stitching and tape binding. As operator interventions have been reduced to a minimum, the entire line is less prone to errors. Due to its highly sophisticated methods of error recovery control and cross-matching of each individual document, the CCBM system recognises any irregularity in case of an error, ultimately offering total integrity verification.

An additional benefit of the Cheque Coupon Book Maker is its speed. The system produces up to 2,000 cheque books per hour on any stock between 60 g/m² and 200 g/m², including CBS-1 security paper. This gives digital print providers, banks and lottery companies substantially greater flexibility and productivity opportunities — a competitive edge that can make a huge difference.
