Large, complex HPGL, PDF and PS files are processed much faster. In addition, rotation of these files takes much less time than it used to. In some cases file processing is 50 times faster than before.

The new 1.3 release also incorporates improvements requested by customers. One of these is support for JPEG files. When scanning in colour or grey scale, users can now generate JPEG files directly. This reduces file size considerably without sacrificing image quality. They can also generate much smaller PDF files using JPEG compression. Added to this, JPEG files can be submitted to the system directly and converted in standard ways.

Another example of how Océ has listened to its customers is the optional dynamic switching. In release mode, the printer automatically detects area fills and slows down to safeguard print quality. However, not all release documents require such high image quality. As a result, users can now disable dynamic switching in release mode when printing on uncoated media. This new function is ideal for workflows demanding a trade-off between speed and image quality.
