140 million kilometers a year Océ maintains a fleet of around 4000 company cars for its management, sales and service staff in Europe. These company cars covered a distance of approximately 140 million kilometers in 2007. This is equivalent to emissions of 23,000 tons of CO2. Sustainability Report.
Company cars must be clean and fuel efficient
“This new policy means that employees in our European sales companies and headquarters will only be able to choose from a selection of cars that produce less CO2 emissions then before,” says Océ Chief Technology and Operations Officer Anton Schaaf. “European Union legislation stimulates car manufacturers to produce cleaner cars. It is our responsibility as a sustainable company to take advantage of these cleaner and fuel-efficient cars.”
Customer visits planned with CO2 in mind
Sales and service staff need to plan periodic customer visits in order to understand and respond to customer requirements and advise them on the maintenance of Océ printers and software applications. Océ enables reduced road travel where possible by efficient planning processes and service at a distance. The Océ customer support center coordinates the service process to minimize unnecessary transport. Furthermore, Océ promotes the use of videoconferencing, teleworking and e-learning within the company.
